Wight AKA Wiȝt (Middle English)
[related: Lacnunga]
In Olde English, an undead creature or creature of the spiritual realm, as described in the Codex Exoniensis, the XCIIIB Charm,[1] and the Lindisfarne Gospels. Wight, though gender-neutral, was in Norse Mythology used to connote witches and sorcerers, leading to the terms prevalence in Wiccan and general gnostic doctrine. More recently, the term was adopted by the author and conlanger JRR Tolkien, most prominently in his posthumous codex The Silmarillion.
