Aphasia AKA Dysphasia
A neurodegenerative affliction in which a person loses the ability to comprehend and/or formulate language. Victims of aphasia often experience great distress and report feeling "locked in" their bodies. A number of historical figures have suffered from aphasia, most notably the French poet and opiate-enthusiast Charles Baudelaire. Aphasia often presents as a symptom of narcotic-induced dementia and certain forms of advanced schizophrenia.[1]
