A Lingala phrase meaning “kill him,” most famously associated with the chant “Ali, bomaye!” during the 1974 "Rumble in the Jungle" boxing match between Muhammad Ali, an outspoken political activist, and George Foreman[1]in Kinshasa, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). The phrase was chanted by local crowds as a show of support for Ali, who had aligned himself with pan-African and anti-colonial sentiments.[2]
