Cold Slither

Hair metal band featured in the 1985 episode "Cold Slither" of the animated series G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. The pseudo-communist terrorist organization Cobra, facing financial difficulties, devises a scheme to brainwash the youth of America through 'de rigueur metal music. Cobra Commander enlists Zartan and a group of Floridian vagrants called the Dreadnoks — Torch, Ripper, and Buzzer — to form the band Cold Slither. Their self-titled song rockets up the charts, assisted by weapon's magnate James McCullen Destro's subliminal mind control device. The band's headlining tour is eventually aborted after the Dreadnoks, in anarchic protest, destroy their instruments and exit the stage, leaving the audience in torpor.
